Learn more about Young Roots with HLF Wales on 14 September
In Wales, we are really keen to see more applications for funding like this, where young people will be given the chance to shape and deliver the projects themselves, about heritage that is interesting to them.
A recent project in Monmouth for example, which is being led by local sixth formers, is aiming to capture the numerous musical memories from nearby Rockfield Studios. Collecting stories and memories to become part of the permanent exhibition hosted at Monmouth Museum, the volunteers from Monmouth Comprehensive School have been receiving training to help undertake interviews as well as create and market the exhibition.
HLF Wales will be holding a workshop specifically focused on the Young Roots grant programme on 14 September in our offices in Cardiff.
Have you got an idea, but want to know more about how to make a grant application? If so, this workshop is for you.
The session will cover
- What is heritage?
- How should young people be involved?
- Experiences of a grant holder
- What is an outcome?
- How to write an activity plan
- What can be included on a budget?
You don’t need a definite project idea to attend – just come along to find our more. There will be an opportunity after the workshop to discuss any initial ideas with development officers.

The workshop will take place at the HLF Cardiff office between 9.30am and 12.30pm on 14 September.
