A bit like the January sales, our new crowdfunding programme won’t go on forever. However, we’ve decided to extend this pilot scheme to the whole of the UK for the next two months.

If you’re looking for inspiration then go no further than Penzance's Montol 10th Anniversary Appeal.  Thanks to 128 backers over £4,000 was raised by the Cornish Culture Association to secure the future of the annual Montol Festival.  This celebrates Cornish midwinter customs and helps bring together the whole community.  Our contribution was £1,000 of matched funding (25% of the fundraising target).

Simon Reed, from the Cornish Culture Association, has praised the ease of the scheme: "Setting up our Crowdfunder project was surprisingly simple. We put together a fundraising page and sent out an email. Before we knew it, people were sharing it on Faceboook and we gained enough support from the crowd to unlock the extra funding from HLF.”

How the extended scheme works

We are providing up to £10,000 - from a total funding pot of £125,000 - to organisations that are able to raise 75% of their target funding.  Projects must raise a minimum of £4,000.

How to register interest

You can apply on the Crowdfunder website. But don’t leave it too long as this pilot scheme is only open until the end of February.

HLF Chief Executive Ros Kerslake said: “We’re looking forward to seeing how this pilot crowdfunding programme can be used to increase grassroots support, with a range of heritage projects using National Lottery money to boost the funds raised.”
