Heritage Lottery Fund success for Sheffield's Broomhall Centre
Broomhall is such a fascinating neighbourhood with diverse and vibrant communities and a full and exciting history. Residents felt that with such a wealth of human experience and knowledge in the neighbourhood these stories must not be lost.
Fiona Spiers, Head of HLF Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “Broomhall and its community have played a vital role in the development of Sheffield’s lively and varied character. This project will preserve this unique heritage by bringing its stories to life, letting everyone get involved and share their past.”
The project will offer a variety of opportunities to be involved, for young and old. We want you to tell your stories about Broomhall. There will be new skills to learn; interviewing techniques, recording skills both audio and video, web site development, collecting and cataloguing information, archive research, helping to guide the project, preparing material for a book, uncovering secrets and creating new stories and friendships.
So if you have any stories about Broomhall, or photographs, event advertising, any material at all that you are wiling to share, we want to hear from you. We can take copies so you do not have to donate items if you do not want to. With your help we can bring a full picture of Broomhall through the ages to life for future generations.
