Help influence and diversify our decision-making in the North of England
Are you full of enthusiasm and devoted to heritage and the positive outcomes that it can deliver for communities and people? If that sounds like you, we have an opportunity to become highly involved in The National Lottery Heritage Fund’s work by joining our Committee for the North of England.
Who can apply?
You should have a passion for and commitment to heritage and be able to demonstrate this through your professional or lived experience (no formal qualifications or higher education is required). You must be connected to the North of England as a resident or otherwise, and have an understanding and passion for the area, its heritage and the communities that live there.
For this role in particular, we are looking for someone with knowledge and experience in equality, diversity and inclusion, to help The Fund improve its policies and procedures and help remove barriers to under-represented groups from engaging with us.
We believe that all people can bring useful insight and value to our decision-making process. Through ensuring our Committees are representative of the wider society, we can help make both our organisation and the heritage we fund more inclusive.
To achieve this goal, we are particularly keen to encourage applications from under-represented groups both on our funding committee and in the heritage sector more widely, this includes:
- young people
- people of black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds
- people who identify as disabled or with long-term health conditions
- people who identify as LGBTQ+
- people from lower socio-economic backgrounds
Why join the North Committee?
Being a Committee member for one of the only UK-wide National Lottery funders, you will gain a unique insight into how a national organisation works, and experience of working towards one national strategy, while striving to achieve local priorities.
You will also be involved in ensuring that The Fund supports and invests in a wide breadth of heritage projects that bring people together, inspire pride in communities and boost investment in local economies.
Get a full insight into the work of the North Committee in our video conversation with current Committee member, Stephen Welsh.
