The first six months: our Strategic Funding Framework

It is six months since we launched our new name, grants structure and Strategic Funding Framework. Here’s what’s happened.

2019 has been an exciting year for The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

In January we changed our name and branding, and with it the way we work and distribute our grants.

We now have open programmes of funding for all kinds of heritage, from £3,000 up to £5million. In June we launched the Heritage Horizon Awards, ambitious new grants of over £5m which will see £100m invested over the next three years in really exciting and innovative projects.

This is all part of our Strategic Funding Framework 2019-2024, which sets out our plan to focus on nature, communities and making sure all heritage is as inclusive as possible.

We’ve also devolved our structure to give more power to the people making decisions across the regions and countries of the UK. Our new areas are:

Grants we've made so far

We’ve already made some really exciting grant announcements.

London & South will share £8m across six projects including Oxford University Museum of Natural History’s British Insect Collection and  the restoration of St Marylebone Parish Church. Read more in our news story.

More than £5.1m is heading to Midlands & East, with funding for Wicksteed Park in Kettering and to save Barrow-on-Trent's Anglo-Saxon parish church St Wilfrid’s.  Read more in our news story.

In the North, a £10m package of grants includes a new museum for Blackpool and funding to restore woodland habitats in Durham. Read more in our news story.

Wales' impressive coastline

 

In Scotland, £3.5m will go towards a huge volunteer-led conservation project across the Forth Valley region and  regeneration of Inverkeithing's medieval town centre . Read more in our news story.
