HLF has announced a £2.2million investment in Birmingham’s iconic-but-underused Roundhouse, a major industrial building at the heart of the city’s canal network.

The project is a partnership between the Canal & River Trust and the National Trust, and will transform the Roundhouse into a city base for exploring Birmingham’s revitalised canals.  The grant has been awarded through HLF’s Heritage Enterprise programme and comes ahead of this week's Industrial Heritage Conference.

In a guest blog for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), HLF's Ben Greener talks about the conference and the huge economic potential of the UK's industrial buildings and sites like the Birmingham Roundhouse.
