Tony has worked as a chief executive in landscape and heritage management for over 25 years.

He is the Chief Executive of Northumberland National Park Authority, a post he has held since November 2005. 

A chartered town planner, Tony has previously worked in heritage management, urban regeneration and rural development roles in the UK and overseas.
Tony is currently policy lead for the historic environment, rural affairs and equality, diversity and inclusion portfolios for the UK national parks.

He is currently a Steering Group member of both Nature North and the Great North Bog.

He is an experienced non-executive director, and most recently served as Chair of Your Homes Newcastle from January 2020 to June 2023.

He was previously non-executive director of the National Federation of ALMOS, Northumberland Tourism Ltd, Active Northumberland, Kielder Water and Forest Park Development Trust and the Ouseburn Trust, which helps support the regeneration of this historic cultural area of Newcastle.

Tony is also a Council member of the North East Chamber of Commerce, and in 2023 was made a Freeman of Northumberland by Northumberland County Council in recognition of his contribution to the county.
