National Lottery Heritage Grants

'Connecting the AW' will create opportunities for positive, meaningful connections between communities and the Wall. A small grants fund will involve local decision making via participatory budgeting and will support community-led project delivery.

Applicant: West Dunbartonshire Council

Project description: This project seeks to encourage greater community engagement, participation and understanding of the Antonine Wall, a World Heritage Site, building on the achievements of the Rediscovering the Wall project.

Barra and Harris Unearthed: developing place-based digital heritage interpretation in the Hebrides

Applicant: UHI North West and Hebrides

Project description: This digital interpretation project aims to increase engagement with, and understanding and awareness of, key heritage sites across Barra and Harris whilst promoting Gaelic culture and heritage.

Decision: Award grant of £123,930 (19%)

Applicant: Comunn Eachdraidh Nis

Project description: This project aims to improve organisational archival systems and practices to increase access to, and protect and preserve, locally significant archives and intangible cultural heritage that is currently at risk.

Gypsy / Traveller Heritage Project

Applicant: MECOPP (Minority Ethnic Carers of People Project)

Project description: This project seeks to explore and safeguard the cultural heritage of the Gypsy/Traveller community across Scotland. It has a key focus on teaching and encouraging traditional practices while raising awareness of the challenges the community has faced.

Decision: Award grant of £213,000 (100%)
