Parks
The buildings, gardens, ponds, ancient motte and castle ruins have all been restored to create a welcoming and vibrant historic environment. The formal garden elements have been cleverly interwoven with the natural heritage of the river and woodland areas. With an active volunteer group tending the vegetable garden and courtyard planting, and a programme of talks, events and workshops, the gardens offer something for everyone to enjoy and take part in.
The project also created a heritage centre to tell the story of Antrim Castle and the gardens. The centre features the stories of the people who have lived and worked in the gardens, as well as the ghosts who continue to roam the grounds. The gardens have attracted numerous awards and are now finally recognised as one of the most important heritage gardens in Northern Ireland.
